Mini Accordion Album for Liying

Another  "ortang" post..

Create a  mini accordion album for Liying as her birthday giving, using a similar template that I learnt from  Papermarket for YSL's birthday gift.
Of cos, as this album is for Liying, I can use lots of floral and girly embellishments for her album.
Keep it rather simple and stick too natural colours and it will be more suitable for Liying, who in my eye , is not a very fussy and down to earth person.
So here are the pictures of my final creation.

I wish  I could find more pictures of us taken in the past as our group knew each other for more than 13 years.  It was only as I went to dig out the soft copies of the pics that I realized that the pics I used to upload in "Friendster"(well...nobody use them for the past few years) are all gone as I did not pay attention to the email sent by them, informing that the pics upload will be removed if I don't take any action. Recalled that we did take some pics during our Poly years, but they were taken using the old camera. Can't remember where I put the films... *sheepish*

I had use lots of butterflies for her album, plus pics of other nature themes such as roosters, bird nests and flowers.

Here are the supplies used:

  • Book Cover --  7Gypsies
  • Base paper (2pcs)  -- DCWV Collage Musings Stack
  • Cuts outs from  -- Prima Marketing Songbird Collection "title-it",   Prima Marketing Almanac Collection "Edison",  DCWV Collage Musings Stack,  DCWV Tres Chic Stack
  • Vellum : Dear Lizzy Neapolitan "Lovely Afternoon"
  • Prima flowers
  • Doily
  • Prima's "Say it with Crystals"
  • Mini tag
  • Washi tape from Tim Holtz collection
  • Embellished butter from Jenni Bowlin Studio
  • Lace
  • pearls
There are quite a few more cuts out which I did not manage to trace them. Most of them are from my stash, so  I don't think they are available in the craft stalls now.

2 more mini accordion books to make. Can't wait to see the results!

Blue Flowers Card and Konnichiwa pocket card

A few "ortang" (owed) posts to clear... I have told myself I should make it a point to write down n the supplies used and the story behind every card I made. Have not written the stories behind these two cards I have made earlier, so here I go.

Blue flowers card for Fish

It's a belated birthday card for Fish as I couldn't managed to pass it to her earlier. The blue paper was bought last year. Have been keeping it for someone suitable and I thought Fish would be the perfect person to receive a card made from this paper and she likes blue and there is some air about her.

Fuzzy cut a few corners from the paper from KaiserCraft. Then topped up with pearls (lots of them!), blue flowers from Prima and chipboard from the latest collection from Prima collection and a tag from Melissa Frances series. Then inked it at the corners to create a vintage look.

Supplies used:
  • Tea At Elsie's Collection paper from KaiserCraft
  • Meadow Lark Journaling Chipboard from Prima
  • Pale blue flower from Prima
  • Pearls and crystals
  • Tag from Melissa Frances

Cute Cute Card for the Cute Cute Gal
Did a card for Tracy, the youngest gal in my department just the day before the eve of her birthday. As she is the youngest and cutest, I have to do a cute cute card for her. Saw the new arrivals in Made with Love includes the Basic Grey's Konnichiwa line a few weeks back and rushed down to the shop after work on that day.

Well I am glad I did that as just 2 weeks later, I saw that they were sending back the remaining pieces of that series back to their warehouse as they have too many new stocks coming in.

Th reason why I had created a pock in the inner side of the card and slotted in a big tag is because I like the prints show on the exterior of the card. The characters are so cute that I dun wish to cover the paper with anything else.

The card on the exterior.

The interior (left) side of the card.

Supplies used:
  • Basic Grey Konnichiwa Collection-- Hello Friend paper
  • Basic Grey Konnichiwa Collection-- Sticker Titles
  • Pink crystals and pearls
  • Pink cardstock
  • Flowers
  • Red velvet stickers from my old stash
Ok, that's it! Looks like the next post will be one on an altered frame, which I am planning to do this week,

Aiko name plate & card set

2 months ago, I was fretting about what gift to create for Sheryl. Had created a card for Serene, and an accordion book for YSL. So Sheryl should get something different. Wanted to do an altered frame but heard she had not much space to put at her home , and she prefers something practical. Hence thought of doing a name plate (yes, this idea for creating a name plate for Sheryl came first but i end up creating this http://icemaidenpalace.blogspot.com/2012/03/altered-nameplate.html for Anqi first.)

When I chanced upon Papermarket's blog post on their new arrivals abt 1.5 months ago, I knew I have to get the series of Aiko papers (http://www.mylittleshoebox.com/p1/products.html) when I saw the pics. Sheryl had mentioned that she will be going to Japan for holiday and I thought she will like the Japanese dolls prints. The Japanese Dolls are sooooo Kawaii and it is not often that those scrapbooking paper suppliers come out with Oriental designs. I bought about 5 pieces of papers from the line and chuck them at a corner first while I worked on other projects that are more urgent.

Spent over two nights working on the name plate. First night was to decide on the layout. I have quite a few options of papers to choose from and in the end, I choose one with clouds and the other one with mini dolls for the name plate.

Here's the completed name plate for Sheryl.

Since there are some materials to spare, I created another matching card for her. All done in 15 minutes.

And I like them cos they are so matching!

Supplies used for name plate:
  • My Little Shoebox Aiko paper-- Blue Sky (2 pieces)
  • My Little Shoebox Aiko paper-- One Fine Day
  • My Little Shoebox Aiko paper-- Happy Notes
  • Thickers-- puffy letter stickers in Pink
  • Glossy accent
  • Plain wooden sign board
Supplies used for birthday card:
  • My Little Shoebox Aiko paper-- Blue Sky
  • My Little Shoebox Aiko paper-- One Fine Day
  • My Little Shoebox Aiko paper-- Little Princess
  • Orange cardstock
  • Glossy accent
  • "Happy Birthday" stamp from Technique Tuesday

Don't think the local scrapbooking stores are selling this Aiko line now, so if you are interested, you may have to try your luck sourcing them online.

and she said...or "wrote"

While chatting with my manager based overseas on attending a workshop, she wrote"..you just started learning supports but I think you are the fast learner and I pretty much count on you. ".

So I presume I shouldn't have any trouble having my contract renewed?

On another note, I'm a bit stressed because of all these expectations of me....

My first Shutter Card--Music Theme

Ever experienced the feeling of wanting to do something but you kept on delaying it not because you are lazy to do but you are afraid to start off? Well, I have experienced that recently while thinking of creating a card for someone but in the end, I did managed to overcome my fear cos I have no choice as the person who I am intending to give is coming to Singapore soon.

I came across this idea of "shuttle card" from someone's blog while surfing the internet last year, and I managed to find a template for doing the card and had bookmarked it. However, I did not do the card immediately then as I was afraid I am not up to the challenge.

So, as the "D-day" is approaching, I have no choice but to force myself to start working on a card. After spending a few days looking the shuttle cards that others crafters had created, I rummaged my own stash of papers with musical scores prints and other music related embellishments and came up with this:

The pic at the bottom right corner shows how the card looks like when the card is closed up. Yes, obviously, this card is for someone who is in the music industry.

Supplies used:
* Green circular cutout from Best Creation Inc - A Walk in the Garden
* Music notes and instruments rub-ons & stickers -- given by Chile from Taiwan
* Brown & White patterned paper from DCVW's Collage Musing Stack
* My Mind's Eye: Follow Your Heart "Be Happy" Never Forget paper
* Bo Bunny 'S Et Cetera Symphony paper
* GCD Studio's Spring in Bloom, Butterfly Harmony Paper
* Prima Marketing Inc Almanac Collection "Libre" paper

Most importantly, if you are thinking of taking up the challenge to do a shuttle card of your own, here is the link where I got the measurements for creating the shuttle card: http://gabriellepollacco.blogspot.com/2011/11/bo-bunny-scor-buddy.html

Enjoy!

altered nameplate

Earlier this month, I decided to challenge myself and instead of making birthday card for my friend, i attempted to do a altered nameplate for her instead.

The flowers fussy cut-outs are mainly from KaiserCraft"s Miss Nelly Collection -- "Her Eyes" paper. You can see the original design of the paper here. Had cut out for flowers initially but felt it was not enough and slowly layered with more cut-outs, leaves, Prima flowers.

Butterflies are from Pink Paislee's Butterfly Garden Collection.
The center journal card is fro Echo Park Papers, This & That by Lori Whitlock.

Going to work on another name plate soon!

Chirpy Birthday Card

Made this card for YT last week and managed to have it sent to her and reached her in time on her birthday.

If my friends didn't mentioned their preference, sometimes it's a headache for me to decide what card to do for them. Normally, I would just fall back to vintage style cos... I just have a weakness to buy vintage style papers. Hahaha.

For this card, I know I have to do a card with bright colours as I remembered she had clicked "like" on one of the colourful cards I have made for my friends last year and commented she likes the bright colours. Just coincidence that I have the new BoBunny Alora collection papers with me and I have something in mind on how to make a card from just one of their patterned paper.

So after lots of fussy cutting (The term originates from quilting where the definition is: To fussy cut is to target and cut a specific motif that's printed on fabric, rather than randomly cutting yardage as we normally do) , here's the end results.

I had stuck foam dots on the back of the branches, birdies and flowers to make them "3D". The paper cut-out where " Happy Birthday" is stamped is slotted in between the branches. I have cut out another three more flowers from "Alora Wish" paper and pasted them above "Happy Birthday" to cover the original flower design on the branch. Kind of "play cheat" to cover up, but the three flowers add more dimension to the lay out.

As for the background paper, it seems coordinated with the Bo Bunny Alora Squiggles paper but it is not from Bo Bunny! Oops ! It is from another manufacturer call DCWV. I had flipped high and low through my collection of paper and found this paper coordinate well with the cut-outs. Do you think so?

Made with Love's Layout of the Week

Woohoo! Was wondering if the card I have made and submitted to Made with Love's Layout of the Week for this week and just saw their blog post...

Yes!!! The 2nd time my work was featured in their blog this year.
Here's the link.
http://www.madewithlove.com.sg/blog/2012/02/26/layouts-of-the-week-91/

And this is the card that I have made and mailed out to my friends (FL & Daniel).

FL had Whatapps me yesterday that she received it. Finally after the festive period has ended, Singpost managed to deliver the mails by the next working day.

Wanted to make used of my embossed set of cards. Hence i took one with the "Baby" wordings and rubbed pink chalk in over it. Had to admit the pic used was not my first choice and the one i intended to cut of from the printed paper seemed too big. I need space for other decorations too.

Matched the picture with a paper doily, pink trimmings and some cute die-cut cut outs from K & Company and hence that's the end result.

My first take on Bo Bunny Sketch Challenge

For the first time, I decided to take up on Bo Bunny 's card challenge.
Here's the sketch.

I had spend quite some time on it. Actually I do not have a problem with the rules that I have to use some Bo Bunny supplies. In fact, I have lots of Bo Bunny papers, untouched, as they are so pretty and I sort of can't bear to cut them out. It was my insistence to use a strip of the hexagon pattern paper from another supplier ( i read that Hexagons are one of the trends now) that I had to crack my head to find suitable Bo Bunny's papers to pair them up. How glad I am that I had some papers from the latest Alora collection and I can cut the "Hearts" out to fit in to the "Love" theme.

I had made a birthday card , meant to be given to a friend. After all giving out a birthday card with love is still an act of love right? :P

So here's the result of my creation. (not my usual style, I know)

Supplies used:
Bo Bunny 12" County Garden Cut Outs (where the butterflies are cut out from)
Bo Bunny 12" Alora Wish
Bo Bunny 12" Alora Giggles
My Mind's Eye Follow Your Heart "Be Amazing" Honey Blue Paper (Where I cut of the 3 hexagons)
Pale green flower from Prima
Little Yellow flower from some push cart stall
Pearls and crystals from Prima
Lace from Daiso
Tim Holtz Distress ink in Forest Moss
Glossy Accent
Foam dots
White card stock.

On this special day 21.02.2012

Have been contemplating to revive my neglected blog (another address) for some time so that I can post stuff without spamming on the Facebook News feed.

Saw this nice background while blog surfing yesterday and since I am in the mood, I decide take action before I start procrastinating.

It's only after I have log in into Blogger, I realised that I have "chope" this blog address "Ice Maiden Palace " years ago. For years, it was just an empty shell as I did not have the heart to set-up a blogshop selling my accessories creations. So might as well use this blog address to start a new blog.

I have always have an affinity with palindromes. Today couldn't be a better date to start this new blog right?

加油了!
